Donor Agencies withdraw Aid For Fight Against HIV/AIDS IN Nigeria due to Corrupt Officials stealing 90% of Funds

Finally, due to the high level of corruption in the administration of funds meant for fighting the HIV/AIDS pandemic, Donor agencies including the USAID,Global Fund have stopped funding the National Agency For the Control of AIDS NACA and other partners. It is believed that corrupt thieving officials siphoned about 90% of the  funds from 2010 till date for Private uses and NACA did not carry out proper auditing on how funds were disbursed. For years its been rumored that the countries AIDS program was a tool for unscrupulous personalities to get wealthy at the expense of over a million sufferers.
The Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria says it is suspending aid to Nigeria s AIDS agency over evidence that $3.8 million was stolen by its workers and consultants.Spokesman Seth Faison said Friday that Nigeria s government has promised to repay the money to the Geneva-based agency and to prosecute suspects. A report by the fund s inspector general says seven government workers and three consultants stole the money over five years.
Nigerians once again on the map for shamelessly stealing from the needy to line a few pockets.
The NACA DG has however come out to say there has been no suspension. I hope he ensures that proper Auditing is carried out in his organisation to corroborate his story.
