NYSC to post corp members for National Service to IDP Camps

For some, this will be the toughest of times to be a Youth Corps Member. The government has decided to deploy corps members compulsorily to IDP camps. This is coming at a time when the nation faces security challenges. Tackling the security challenges will not be a walk in the park and now due to the desperation and need for more hands to help in rehabilitation efforts the NYSC Director General made the announcement that youths are being deployed in service of their country to help with the running and provision of services at the various Internally Displaced Persons Camp. Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists and Teachers and Social Workers will be on high priority lists.
Some parents are dreading the development.
But Duty to Country calls...

Fidelity Bank MD Arrested for $115 Million Allegedly Received from DAM

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arrested the Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, Nnamdi Okonkwo and Head of Operations Martins Izuogbe, and some other officials for allegedly receiving $115 million from former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

It was alleged that Diezani Madueke asked Okonkwo to help her handle some cash to be distributed to election Officials and Groups during the build up to the 2015 General Elections to canvass for votes and help ensure a return to power of the former administration of which she was a prominent face.    Nnamdi Okonkwo

The bank CEO is accused of not reporting the receipt and warehousing of the cash as stipulated by law to the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, NFIU, which is a crime and breach of law.
This development brings to the fore the code of conduct of banks and financial institutions.

Diezani and Her Millions of Dollars

Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke was such an inspiration for young girls when she was appointed Minister for Works and then Minister for Petroleum Resources. Young girls perused her biography and seemed to draw strength from the fact that her Educational Qualifications and Experience had gotten her so far in Shell Petroleum Development Company and then as the first Lady appointed Minister of Petroleum Resources.Making them believe they could do it too. She was an epitome of Class and Grace and even the rumors surrounding her Marital Status didn't do much to remove the wool of almost hero worship from their eyes. With all the new allegations leveled against her for Money Laundering, Embezzlement in the Millions of US  Dollars et al.. She has really given some ladies cause to change their minds on who is an inspirational figure. Is it really worth it being labelled the one who wrecked havoc in an entire country and in a family? As they say what a man can do a woman sure can do better. No, scrap that saying...

Tiwa Savage released a beautiful video that has been seen and  appreciated by many and then all this happens with TeeBillz slinging mud on social media. If this is a stunt, its a badly timed and real dirty one guaranteed to drive fans in an opposite direction and really distasteful.

I really wish someone, maybe one of his enemies hacked into his account cos this is so not cool and will be around to haunt them for a long while.

Kaduna Refinery and the 2million Litres today!

Its a countdown. Kaduna Refinery is set to produce 2 million litres of petroleum today. We can't wait. I can just imagine what the mood at the control room of the ministry and Refinery will be but sadly Nigerians have heard this over and over again that frankly they are uninterested. Just get the fuel pumping in the Stations and maybe we can finally heave a  sigh of relief.

Ban on Sale and Purchase of Fuel in Jerrycans by the Inspector General of Police.

A Twitter user who is originally Dutch and lives in Lagos Femke "Funke" had this view on the recent ban on the  sale and purchase of Scarce Fuel in Jerrycans by the Inspector General of Police.
One wonders if the IGP is a member of the populace and how he powers his fleet of cars and office and his personal home. Okay, i forgot. He has some perks of office which the rest of the populace is not privy too and so he lives in a bubble.

I believe many will agree with her it makes no sense.

Save The Children Foundation and The Every Last Child Campaign!

Our Work in
Nigeria

Last Year, Save the Children...
protected 97,656
children
 from harm
provided 979,332 children
with a healthy start in life
gave 3,908,498 children
vital nourishment

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) ended in 2015 after a fifteen year period.
It has been replaced by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) The international Children's charity group, Save The Children said millions of Nigerian children did not benefit from the programme. Save the Children has identified discrimination as the largest threat to children born in developing countries.Speaking with journalists in Abuja, Ben Foot, the country director of the organisation noted that millions of children in Nigeria did not benefit from the progress made with fighting extreme poverty under the MDGs. Foot stated that 16,000 children in developing countries die from preventable causes such as geography, gender, ethnicity, disability or because they are victims of conflict.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja, Ben Foot, the country director of the organisation noted that millions of children in Nigeria did not benefit from the progress made with fighting extreme poverty under the MDGs. Foot stated that 16,000 children in developing countries die from preventable causes such as geography, gender, ethnicity, disability or because they are victims of conflict.

“Despite progress and in that process, we have actually left behind millions of children in Nigeria who are not benefiting from education, health care and protection.
“Every Last Child calls for three basic guarantees in fair financing, equity and accountability to children.
“The campaign is to galvanise people, from politicians to children, to recognize that fact and put in place policies and actions to bring those children into the game,” he said.

Sometimes, you just wonder if these projects are making a dent in the development goals. Even after 15 years, it still feels like an uphill battle to make a difference.

Breaking: $12.9 Billion Arms Scandal Again

The Nation newspaper is reporting that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has uncovered another $12.9 Billion Arms deal Scandal under the President Goodluck Jonathan Administration. It has flagged and frozen an account with $500 Million whose owners haven't been traced. Investigations are still ongoing.
The EFCC source is quoted as saying “From our findings so far, the amount involved in the arms deals was over $15billion. The $2.1billion which you have heard so much about is just one transaction into an account in the First Bank of Nigeria in New York.
“They moved the money into the FBN account from where they were disbursing and re-routing the cash. Our priority is to recover these funds but we will still prosecute the individuals and companies involved.”  The source also stated that what the EFCC has recovered in just one year is more than the total recovery by the EFCC since inception while also giving insights into the probe of Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke and businessman Jide Omokore.

Soldiers Assault Lawyer in Festac

It was another ugly incident as some soldiers allegedly assaulted a Lawyer going about his business. It seems the sad incident occured as a result of a disorderly Petrol Queue at the 23 Road Mobil Petrol Station. Tempers have flared due to the continued scarcity and the ugliness in most people after waiting long hours at the queues has resulted in a lot of unfortunate incidents. I hope the Lawyer gets some Justice as it is believed the Soldiers chased his vehicle and shot at the Vehicle and went ahead to beat him up. Sad.

Piers Morgan's Opinion on Beyonce profiting off Grieving Mothers

I just can't wait for the Beehive to pounce on Piers Morgan. The journalist has stated that he is uncomfortable with superstar Beyonce profiting from the Deaths of Police Brutality victims in her record sales. He stated this in his column for the Daily Mail. Calling her in his usual tongue in cheek way ''the born-again-black woman with a political mission''. He states matter of factly that he doesn't like it when entertainers go political.

Twin Brothers protect their Sister,One makes the ultimate Sacrifice while the other is injured.

Twin brothers, Lewis and Elvis Megwa, were stabbed by Alex Onuora and his pal, after they confronted him for harassing their sister. It is so sad the level of violence exhibited by young men who throw caution to the wind.
Elvis one half of the duo was a mass communication student at National Open University, died from his stab wounds while his brother, Lewis is in a critical state in a Lagos hospital.
Very Sad indeed. Anyone with information of the whereabouts of the Alex fellow should please inform the nearest Police Station.
