It is finally here, Nigerian Airliner, Air Peace has been approved as the Nigerian Flag carrier to run direct flights from Nigeria to China. The Chairman of Air Peace Allen Onyema, in an interview with CNBC Africa stated this
“The government and the flying public created a yearning gap, all the agreements in this country is tilted to one side, the foreign airlines but this government of Muhammadu Buhari has started to do things differently - recognising the local airlines and seeing that in Air Peace there is a lot of quality, so they decided to give us - when we applied it didn’t take time before they gave it to us,” said Allen Onyema, Chairman of Air Peace
Air Peace is poised to take on the highly lucrative Asian Market and would fly from Enugu Nigeria. It is amazing what impact this move will have on the Nigerian Economy and is surely a welcome development. China now is much closer than we have ever thought. The arrangement will have a ripple effect on the economy affecting the hotel and tourism sectors, creating an influx of people and hopefully creating jobs. Let's see a wholly Nigerian firm try to do us proud.
