Pope Francis paid a short visit to the Greek Island of Lesbos visiting with the Head of the Greek orthodox church and sending a clear message to Europe to do all it can for the vulnerable and helpless refugees. On his departure, he left with a group of twelve registered refugees believed to be members of three families from the refugee camp in the Island of Lesbos to give them a new life safe in Italy.
It was a highly emotional moment as a young girl was pictured prostrate at his feet showing her gratitude whilst the pope tried to get her to rise. The Pope pictured below greets a group of migrants.
